This body of work tells the Russian fairy tale of warrior-princess Maria Morevna and Ivan's struggles to rescue his wife from the immortal Koschei.

THE RIVER OF FIRE

(Collage/Concept Art)

"Koschei came back and was informed by his horse that Ivan had taken Marya. Mounting the magical horse he caught up to the two escapees, took Marya, and told Ivan that, if he was ever to rescue her again, he would be killed."

THE RIVER OF FIRE

(Tracing Paper Light Art)

"Ivan started off for Baba Yaga's house and soon enough he was at the River of Fire. He waved the magic handkerchief and a crystal bridge rose up from a low and decrepit bridge and he was able to cross safely."

THE DEATH OF KOSCHEI THE DEATHLESS

(Ink drawing on paper, clothes)

"Koschei found out from one of his magic horses that Ivan had come back and taken Marya. Furious, Koschei mounter the horse and charged after them. When Koschei caught up to them Ivan's horse struck Koschei in the head and killed him with that blow. Marya mounted Koschei's horse and she and Ivan rode back to their kingdom."
